Fueling the 2020 Rocket Ride

If you reference my blog from last year, we set our sights on a growth goal of 40%-50% with a hashtag of #HereWeCome. Well, I am thrilled to share that we organically grew at 61% for 2019, surpassing even the outsized goals we set for ourselves (and 2018’s growth of 43%).  How did we accomplish this? Here are a few of my observations.

STANDING OUT | LIVE SHOWS

In Part I of my STANDING OUT blog, I talked about what I learned from the music books I read in 2019, and what made artists unique and truly stand out. In Part II of STANDING OUT, I’ll share what I learned at the live shows and how that makes them even more unique and truly stand out from all the ‘noise’. So, here is the line up this year (in chronological order), including the opening acts, which of course I NEVER miss.

115 WAYS TO PREP YOUR TURKEY POSTS

If it’s not on your insta or facebook, did it really even happen? Social posts and pics are ramping up for the holidays. We all have more time to browse. And, with vacations and family time crammed into the upcoming week—we also have access to a lot more content. But before you snap and share, think about your thanksgiving theme. Is it food-focused, family-centric or maybe you’re just plain #blessed. Whatever you decide, we believe it’s best to chose your theme and stick with it. After all, your posts are your personal brand.

STANDING OUT | MUSICIANS MAKE IMPACT

At the end of 2018, I felt I was spending too much time on the iPad attempting to read but not reading because it was too easy to get distracted and not actually reading. So, at the start of 2019, I made a personal ‘resolution’ to get back to, what I’ll call, real reading. And not just reading, but to read physical books, not on an iPad. And not just any book, but only books about music; genres, eras, musicians and bands.

Artist of the Week: Beach Bunny

As if opening for Death Cab for Cutie isn't cool enough, this young trio will follow that up with Lollapalooza in Chicago this coming August. If you can't make it to Lollapalooza, then be sure to catch them on tour at your local indie venue.

March (M)Adness

So far this year, the 2019 NCAA March Madness basketball tournament has gone pretty close to plan, with the higher seeds winning when they should. The only exception has been the annual tradition of at least one 12 seed beating a 5 seed. And in this year’s case, three of the 12 seeds have beat the 5 seeds, and the fourth lost by just 1 point. So close to a clean sweep by the 12 seeds! There have also been some very close calls (Duke vs. UCF!), but that is all they were, close calls. The higher seeds have won all of those close calls.

Artist of the Week: Zion Williams

Duke freshman Zion Williamson has played a major role in Duke's on-court success this season, but his impact on the Blue Devils has been just as epic since he stepped on campus July 1. Duke basketball already had the largest social-media following among team accounts before Williamson arrived, but the combination of the two has vastly accelerated their numbers.

The End Of The Road

KISS kicked off their farewell ‘The End of the Road’ world tour on January 31st in Vancouver. And we couldn’t be more stoked. We can’t wait for them to hit the stage on April 7th in Atlanta with prime viewing from 20 rows back on the floor. Shout it out loud and get ready to rock n’ roll all night, and party every day. Check out the setlist and clips here from Vancouver.
